To get the best finish, the best makeup results that last all day and night, you need to use the best of the best. We don't only stick to one brand. The Blossom Hair & Makeup team stock a fully equipped kit that is filled with first class products. We only use high quality, luxury makeup brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Nars, Tom Ford, Bobbi Brown, Fenty Beauty, Mac, Hourglass, Stila, Urban Decay, Chantecaille, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, Make up for ever, Estee Lauder, Huda Beauty, Natasha Denona, Toofaced and many more. Do I need and hair or makeup trial?

All eyes are going to be on you at your wedding, so you want to make sure you look your best. How can you guarantee that happens? By scheduling a wedding makeup trial and wedding hair trial before the event. The last thing you want is to wait till your wedding day to realise that the bridal hairstyle you've been dreaming of won't work with the texture of your hair, or that your makeup artist's go-to foundation doesn't sit well on your skin. You can iron out any kinks, and be safe in the knowledge you'll look dynamite on the day! We know that a trial run is not an option for all brides because of busy schedules or perhaps the budget doesn't allow for it, so in the event you decide not to or can't have a trial, don't worry! just make sure you allow a little extra getting ready time on the day so your stylist can ensure you look and feel gorgeous!!

How far in advance do I need to book my bridal hair and makeup trial?

We recommend scheduling your bridal hair and makeup trial about one or two months before your wedding day, this will ensure you have time to properly test out your dream look and make any changes if necessary. While we agree you really only need to book one hair and makeup trial, you can schedule more if you'd like. For example, if you're torn between two looks or want to try something a little different the second time around, an extra appointment might help settle your nerves.

How do I prepare for the trial?

Your trial will go much smoother if you have an idea of what you’re looking for. Know what you don’t want, too-that can be just as helpful! Time to get started on a Pinterest board-the more inspiration you bring, the easier it will be for your makeup artist/hair stylist to interpret what you want. Pinterest is literally like your wedding inspiration bible- it’s like thousands of wedding magazines all rolled into one very handy app on your phone. When looking for your hair and makeup inspiration images, make sure that you look at models who have similar features to yourself - so the same hair colour, eye colour and skin colouring. The natural look on the model with the tan skin and blonde hair is going to look very different on you if you don’t have blonde hair and tan skin. And the detailing in her bridal hair style, will look very different if you have brown or black hair.

How do I look after my skin pre trial?

To prep your skin, we recommend that you do a soft exfoliating scrub the night before, something that you’ve tried and tested many times before. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin radiant and smooth. If you want soft, clean skin, exfoliating your face prior to the makeup trial will give you glowing skin. A hydrating moisturising mask or night cream should be applied after. On the day of your bridal makeup trial, cleanse your face with an actual cleanser (no make-up wipes!) to make sure that you’re completely fresh-faced and mascara-free. We prefer our clients arrive without any skin care treatments on, such as moisturisers, eye creams, serums, sunscreens, just as they can interfere with how well the makeup sits and how well it lasts, plus dependent upon the SPF, they can cause that dreaded “flashback” ghost effect in pictures!. Our bridal makeup artists will supply all skincare products, but if you’d prefer to use your own, just bring it along to your trial for your makeup artist to approve and apply for you.
